Notes from Ms. Jones' book: "William J. Burson served in the Civil War in the 47th Alabama Volunteers C.S.A. under Col. James B. Oliver as a private in Company B March 1862, was sent home ill, unable to fight."
In all probability this entry from the book is WRONG. After checking several sites in Tallapoosa County, Alabama it appears that there were two William J. Bursons (1st cousins) living during this period, and both served in the CSA. The above reference from the book was intended for the William J. in Tallapoosa County Alabama, and NOT my William J. located in Campbell County Georgia. CLICK HERE to compare the information on both men.
See David L. Burson for corrected information
I am currently researching this William J. as the most likely candidate for this page.
